Rata visits Sacred Heart
The oldest tamariki at Rata kindergarten in Temuka had a special invitation to attend a show at Sacred Heart Primary School in Timaru. The show was performed by the New Zealand Playhouse a touring drama company. They performed a short play called Little Red Robyn hood. As the title states, it was a mash-up of the two familiar nursery rhymes.
The play captured the children’s sense of humour as they played along with the mean king who had a plan to get money to build a big wall around the forest. We all celebrated when the money was returned to the people of the village.
Morning tea in the new entrance playground followed and we even had a short play, trying out the new challenges a school playground can offer.
On the bus ride home the tamariki talked about their favourite parts of the show that they would share with their friends when they got back to kindergarten.
